Converse X Icons Book
Class: Publication Design
Professor: Whitney Holden
Tools Used
Adobe Creative Suite, Spray paint, Laser cutter (stencil), Artsy Couture (production)
The Project
This open-ended assignment required creating a fully realized printed book. The challenge was maintaining cohesion across multiple spreads while capturing Converse’s experimental and culturally embedded identity.
The Action
I structured the book around Converse collaborations with artists and brands, allowing each spread to highlight a different cultural moment. Inspired by grunge design, I incorporated spray paint textures, bold typography, and layered imagery. For the physical cover, I laser-cut stencils and applied real spray paint, then added metallic detailing using a Cricut machine.
The Result
The final book is immersive and physically expressive. It demonstrates both digital precision and tactile experimentation. This project strengthened my ability to manage long-form design systems and reinforced my attention to detail across an entire publication.
